Daily thoughts and work in progress

uh...i got nothing to say. click. dial tone.

I've gotta write in this thing, though. it's a beast. I've created it. Now I'm slowly starving it. Like our snake, Jake. It sits in its cage slowly going psychotic. It never comes out. Bought on a whim, now completely forgotten. I change its water, drop a mouse (we keep them frozen in the freezer, then you thaw it in some hot water) in his cage, clean out his old skins. But otherwise go about my business. It sits in its hollowed out rock, day in, day out... About the only creature in the world with an existence more mundane than mine.

I like having a boring life, though. More time to write, to live in a little *fantasy* world where stuff happens, where I work in an office, women are always flirting with me, teasing me, hitting upon me, drama, car chases, betrayal, getting tossed out of the house...etc. Drama. My script. Which is now coming along nicely. I think it's gonna be funny but more importantly I hope people will relate to it and it'll ring some bells, in other words to use a 1989 term I'm droppin' science... I want to write the book on extramrtial relationships and trying to stay faithful. I want people to check it out and say to themselves "Yes, that is a precise external audiovisual representation of my inner torments."

Haven't checked out "Wedding Crashers" yet. Bought the script from ScriptCity. $15 U.S. on my card. I guess the movie's funny. I couldn't really relate to the script. Best script ever remains "Withnail and I." Birlliant writing, even in the stage instructions. It begins like this:

INT. APARTMENT - DAY

Low-quality daylight...

I'm already chuckling. Later, he's describing the room Marwood (the "I" of the title) is in, he says: "Dostoevsky described hell as perhaps nothing more than a chair in it. This room has several chairs." Witty. The whole script's like that. That's how I want to write my script. A waste of effort, maybe, but when you're into something you enjoy extra effort, and this is my way to get into it...
